Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 11, 2005 -- Independent fantasy sports website
BracketManager (www.bracketmanager.com) announces the launch of its Quark
Tournament Genie™, a free interactive tool for exploring the history of the NCAA
basketball tournament. College basketball fans can get immediate answers to
virtually any question about how teams have performed in the tournament from the
Genie. Literally billions of questions are possible! For example, the Genie can
answer how teams from the Big Ten Conference have performed against number one
seeds from the ACC since 1985. To date, Quark Tournament Genie is the only
resource available to the general public that provides such a comprehensive
historical database.
Developed by Harvard graduates Sumit Daftuar and
Michael Hartl in 2004, BracketManager provides fast and efficient ways to track
and score NCAA tournament pools. Along with the Genie, BracketManager calculates
the percentage of win scenarios for each bracket in a pool and creates
insightful summaries and reports relating to the performance of teams in the
NCAA tournament at no cost to their users.
“Our goal is to enhance the
enjoyment of the games by providing extra resources that are easily accessible
to fans, and we are absolutely thrilled with the enthusiastic response that
we’ve received from thousands of college basketball fans. When we first started
the site during last year’s NCAA tournament, we had no idea if people would even
notice us, and we would have been happy with 1,000 users. Then an unprecedented
10,000 people logged on, and we knew we had tapped into a winning idea,” said
Daftuar.
Daftuar first ran a college basketball pool while he was at
Caltech earning his Ph.D. in mathematics. He began writing scripts to calculate
his own scores when he realized how much time he was spending doing everything
by hand. Hartl added a web interface for players to enter their brackets, and
the program became an immediate hit among their peers. Daftuar and Hartl
eventually decided to expand their hobby into a business, and today they
continue to look for ways to improve BracketManager’s site.
An
indispensable tool for college basketball fans, the Quark Tournament Genie is
available at http://bracketmanager.com/genie. For diehard fans, an advanced
version of the Genie can be found at http://bracketmanager.com/advanced_genie.
