Filmmaker Helps Educators Meet New Constitutional Mandate
Under new Department of Education legislation schools and colleges must offer a program on the U.S. Constitution around the September anniversary of the Constitution’s ratification.
McKinney, TX (PRWEB) June 9, 2005 -- Under new Department of Education
legislation schools and colleges must offer a program on the U.S. Constitution
around the September anniversary of the Constitution’s ratification. Filmmaker
Dean J. Augustin is hoping to help by offering educators a huge discount on the
DVD version of his third independent film, Anthem.
Anthem, which
recently received a Remi Award at the WoldFest Houston Film Festival, is a
documentary that explores the fundamental question, “What does the Constitution
of The United States say?”
“My brother is a school teacher and appears
in the film,” according to Augustin. “He always talks about unfunded mandates
and maybe Anthem is an inexpensive alternative to the new Constitutional
requirement.”
Anthem has been screened at three festivals this year and
people who have seen the film are impressed by its unbiased nature. According to
Susan Adkins of Adkins and Associates, “Anthem has to be one of the most
unbiased, fair, and interesting assessments of the American people and the
American constitution I’ve seen or heard.”
Augustin never considered
schools and colleges as a place to show Anthem until he received a letter from
patron Dave Kerford of Atlanta, “This is a film for our classrooms. It could
easily compliment any Applied Constitutional Course in a present setting." Since
then Anthem has been included in high school and college classrooms around the
country.
Anthem was filmed in College Station and McKinney, Texas as
well as Paris and Normandy, France. “I was looking for a fusion of technology
with the ‘roots’ of independent film.” says the McKinney, Texas, based
filmmaker. “A simple production that informs and entertains a wide
audience.”
Although the DVD version of Anthem is available on Amazon.com,
for educators using Anthem in their classrooms, The Good Fight - Digital Motion
Pictures, Augustin’s Production and Distribution Company, is offering a 25%
discount on any Anthem DVD purchased.
“Just go to our Video Shop (http://www.customflix.com/206552) and use the code 82LDG84U,”
says Augustin, “It’s a great way to introduce our films.”
