Full Sail Film Student Sells Script to Touchstone Pictures
Amber Goerish, a current Full Sail Film student, has her original script purchased after a bidding war between Quentin Tarantino's A Band Apart Productions and Touchstone Pictures.
(PRWEB) March 31, 2005 – Full Sail Real World Education is excited to
announce that current Film student Amber Goerish recently sold an original
screenplay to major motion picture studio Touchstone Pictures. The untitled
project is Goerish’s first script, and production is expected to begin on the
film within the year. Goerish, a 21-year old Minneapolis native, began her film
training at Full Sail, a media production college located in Central Florida, in
the spring of 2004, and will graduate this April.
Goerish describes her
screenplay, which also saw serious interest from Quentin Tarantino’s production
company A Band Apart, as a “horror/mystery film that resembles a cross between
Seven and The Others.” A brief synopsis reveals the story of a detective working
to track down a vicious serial killer, while also trying to sort out his
personal life, which is in a downward spiral.
Goerish was motivated to
shop her script when a local film director gave a talk during Amber’s Directing
class. At the end of the lecture, the director gave her a list of screenplay
agents. She submitted scripts to nearly 60 agents, and 25 callbacks later,
Goerish had her pick of interested parties. The female agent she chose told
Amber “I’ll get it out there,” and the bidding war that resulted between A Band
Apart and Touchstone showed her to be true to her word.
Amber, currently
nearing the final month of her Full Sail Film degree, is ecstatic about her
recent success, and what the future holds for her as an artist. “It’s all been
so shocking,” she says. “I’ve had to stop myself a few times and look around,
because it has all felt like a dream. This was my lifelong goal – I set it, I
achieved it, and now I want to go even higher. I can’t wait to do more writing!”
“This is rare for a first-time writer,” says Dave Franko, Program
Director of Full Sail’s Film program. “With all the screenplays submitted to
studios each year, very few writers get this kind of immediate attention. The
quality of Amber’s work obviously made a strong impression, and represents an
amazing first step into the industry.”
Full Sail would like to extend
our congratulations to Amber Goerish, and wish her continued success in her
career in the film industry.
