Full Sail's Music Video Panel, taking place at 4:30pm on April 13th, to feature top music video directors, including Phil Harder (Prince, Incubus, Foo Fighters), and Vem (Skindred, X-Ecutioners).
Winter Park, FL (PRWEB) April 10, 2005 -- Full Sail Real World Education, in
association with MVWire.com, will be hosting a special panel devoted to building
a career in music video production. The Music Video Panel, which will take place
during this year’s Florida Film Festival, will be held at the Enzian Theater, in
Maitland, Florida on the afternoon of April 13th. The panel is scheduled to last
from 4:30pm to 6pm, and will feature the talents and insight of several top
music video directors.
The Full Sail/MVWire Music Video Panel has been
designed to offer an informative and enlightening discussion for aspiring music
video directors and producers. The panel discussion will detail the production
pipeline of music videos, as well as the creative, technical, and business
aspects of the industry.
The following directors and music video experts
will be adding their personal experiences to the panel discussion:
• Phil
Harder, of Harder/Fuller Films, has been directing music videos since 1985, and
his credit list spans the length and breadth of popular music, including videos
for Prince, Incubus, Liz Phair, Foo Fighters, Barenaked Ladies, Matchbox 20,
Low, Pulp, Soul Asylum, Cornershop, and the Afghan Whigs.
• Vem is a
part of acclaimed production house DNA, which includes directors like Liz
Friedlander (U2, Joss Stone), Francis Lawrence (Gwen Stefani, Justin
Timberlake), and Jean-Baptiste Mondino (Madonna, Bjork). Vem has recently
directed videos for Skindred, Future Leaders of the World, and
X-Ecutioners.
• Jennifer Amerine is a director’s rep for Radical Media in
Los Angeles who has worked with a number of esteemed music video directors,
including Chris Milk (Modest Mouse, Kanye West), Brett Simon (The Killers,
French Kicks), and Dave Meyers (Outkast, Britney Spears).
• Justine K.
Smith is the founder of Stompbox Creative Management, where she independently
reps music video directors for leading production companies.
The Music
Video Panel will be moderated by Matt Gorney, Full Sail’s Associate Course
Director for Music History, who addresses the history and influence of music
videos in his course curriculum.
Gorney is excited about the opportunity
this panel presents to up and coming filmmakers. “With the emergence of cable
music channels more than 20 years ago, music videos have evolved from a
marketing tool used by record labels to push an album, into a respected and
challenging art form,” he explains. “This panel offers the chance to learn from
the artists out there making this genre-defining entertainment, and walk away
with a better understanding of what it takes to succeed in this
industry.”
