The Portrait Artist and Published author, Barbara O'Sullivan, (The King's Quinto: The Life and Times of Sir Walter Raleigh (1552-1618) ISBN 1413708285 has decided to sell her collection of drawings of the French Royal family from the Medici period (which are Francois Clouet copies). Clouet lived at the French Royal Palace of Fontainbleu, unlike Miss O'Sullivan who was born in Chiswick, London, W4. The collection includes two portraits of Mary Queen of Scots, one portrait of King Henri II of France, one portrait of Le Duc d'Alencon, one portrait of Claude Duc of Guise (Mary Queen of Scots Uncle), and one portrait of Le Dauphin Francis who was married to Mary Queen of Scots. Also on offer for sale is a portrait of Hugo de Moncada of the Spanish Galleases, who fought at the Spanish Armada.
(PRWEB) April 8, 2005 -- Miss O'Sullivan has decided to sell the drawings
because they are becoming too valuable to be stored at her home and she cannot
afford to have them insured or framed in the gold frames that they deserve. The
drawings have been described as Museum standard by her former art teacher, Joe
Birt of West London, and the drawings have been dry mounted since 1992 when they
were originally drawn. They were originally framed by Picture Man in Chiswick.
Sotherbys of New Bond Street, London, have kindly been asked to give a
valuation of the drawings with a view to them being sold at Auction.
The
National Portrait Gallery in London have declined to buy the drawings as they
only purchase portraits of British subjects. The author has also drawn a pencil
portrait of Charles Dickins, which is not for sale; her son, Mark Paul
Maliszewski a Rock Star with Mark Viking Experience in Amsterdam, has drawn a
pencil portrait of Marlon Brando (Wild One) as a present to his mother, which
will never be for sale.
Miss O'Sullivan's drawings appear on her
website, www.sirwalterraleightrialandhistory.com and in her book, The
King's Quinto: The Life and Times of Sir Walter Raleigh (1552-1618) Publish
America, USA, 2004, ISBN 1413708285. Her portrait of Le Dauphin Francis graces
the front cover of the book.
Miss O'Sullivan is currently working on a
new novel entitled Oscar Defoe and the Victorian Workhouse 1896 and it is being
viewed by a literary Agent in London at the present time.
