(PRWEB) June 1, 2005 -- 2005 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Head Start
Program. This year’s conference is very significant as we revisit past successes
and look to many more years of serving low income children and families. The
Region VII Leadership Conference has been called “one of the best regional Head
Start conferences in the country.”
The conference design team has worked
hard to ensure that this year’s conference will again stand out as one of the
best. The Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Kansas City, MO will be the hosting
site on June 1-3, 2005. The region’s highly qualified presenters are bringing
many years of experience and knowledge to Kansas City through fun and
informative workshop sessions. Back by popular demand are workshop sessions by
David Nelson, Russ Fry, Ron Willis and many more! Conference highlights include
more than 35 workshop sessions on a variety of topics, Exhibitors and Vendors,
40th Anniversary Celebration, Region VII Head Start Awards Presentations,
dynamic and energizing keynote presentations, including Edward Zigler, Ph.D.,
who was known for his dedication to health and education of children throughout
his career.
Dr. Zigler was the first Director of the Office of Child
Development (known today as the Administration on Children, Youth, and Families)
and Chief of the U.S. Children’s Bureau. He is considered as one of the founding
fathers of Head Start and founded and is Director of Yale’s Center in Child
Development and Social Policy, founder of the School of the 21st
Century.
This is certainly a conference you won’t want to miss. On
Wednesday, June 1st, from 7:00- 9:00 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas
City, join us as we celebrate forty years of Head Start success and as we take a
walk down memory lane.
Special guest, Sarah Greene, President & CEO,
National Head Start Association, will share her thoughts on the success of the
Head Start program over the past 40 years as well as her vision for the future
as Skip Hawkins, one of Kansas City’s most requested musicians, enchants us all
with music of yesterday and today. You will not want to miss this 40th
Anniversary Celebration as we revisit the vision and rekindle our passion for
the leading early childhood program in the nation.
