Online Backup Software Company Announces Activation of Hurricane Hot Site, Warns of Inland Collateral Damage
Online Backup Software company readies hot site for Hurricane season
Memphis, TN (PRWEB) June 10, 2005 -- Remote Backup Systems, Inc., developer
and distributor of RBackup™ online backup software on the web at http://remote-backup.com,
today announced the activation of its emergency backup Hot Site for use by its
Service Providers in the path of Hurricane activity this season. This
immediately makes backup resources available for online backup service providers
in areas which may be affected by the storms.
The prospects for data loss
during these storms should not be underestimated, and officials at weather
agencies across the country are reminding us that destruction and damage are not
limited to the outlying coastal areas. According to the Director of the NOAA
weather service, brigadier general (ret.) David L. Johnson, ”... preparation
plans should consider that these storms carry severe weather, such as tornadoes
and flooding, while moving inland."
Remote Backup Systems has activated
the Online Backup Hot Site for their licensees dating back to Hurricane Hugo in
1989, and is the only company in the backup software business that extends this
service to their clients.
“While last year’s Hurricane season was very
active, many businesses remain unprotected from the effects of data loss even
today”, commented Tommy Gardner, Remote Backup Systems’ Director of Sales and
Marketing, “RBS would also like to remind the business community that Hurricanes
are only one of many ongoing threats to the safety and availability of their
business data, which for most businesses is their most valuable
asset.”
RBS encourages all of its online backup providers in threatened
areas to visit the company’s website at http://remote-backup.com/storm.htm immediately for more
information about the Hot Site service, including guidelines for activation.
