San Francisco 49ers scandalous training video does nothing to help team
San Francisco least likely to win an NFC Championship according to bookmakers
Miami Beach, Florida, June 2 /PRWeb/ - Despite its supposed intentions of
"coaching players on handling media questions in diverse San Francisco" a
scandalous training video full of lesbian antics and racial slurs has certainly
done very little to improve the 49ers playing ability.
The San Francisco
49ers front office is under fire for an in-house training video that included
lesbian porn, off-color racial jokes about the cities well-entrenched Chinese
community, a parody of gay marriage and topless blondes, according to a report
in The San Francisco Chronicle.
Phillip Matier, Kevin Lynch and Andrew
Ross of The Chronicle all contributed to a story that first broke Wednesday June
1. The Chronicle reported that some of the 15-minute video, which also included
linebacker Julian Peterson playing the part of a homeless man, was filmed at the
City Hall office of San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom.
On Thursday, Kevin
Lynch reported that The 49ers' owners, John York and Denise DeBartolo York,
apologized almost immediately, however, he also wrote that 49ers players
defended the video and appeared more upset that the tape reached the public. It
had been sent to the Chronicle anonymously.
This scandal is perhaps only
a precursor to the pain San Francisco football fans are likely to be feeling all
season long....and what a long season this should be for the Bay
Area.
Online sportsbook, WallStreet.com, lists the San Francisco 49ers
with 100-1 odds, the worst in the NFC and the worst in the National Football
league for that matter. Should the 49ers win the NFC title, a $100 bet would pay
out $10,000!
Although Coach Mike Nolan believes it is difficult to make
any kind of assessment on offensive linemen when they're not wearing their pads,
the team felt optimistic a couple rookies provide an upgrade this
season.
Coach Mike Nolan seems content with his group of 49ers wide
receivers, despite the fact only one has started in the NFL and the eight
players currently on the roster at the position have combined for just 72
catches - 57 of them by Brandon Lloyd. One veteran who won't be joining that
group is David Boston, who re-signed with the Miami Dolphins.
All the
changes on the offensive line, beginning with the free-agent signing of left
tackle Jonas Jennings, has veteran center Jeremy Newberry optimistic for the
coming season. Newberry said he is feeling as well as he's felt in several years
after missing 15 games last season with knee and back problems.
"I think
you'll see a different mentality," Newberry said. "We are certainly making it a
priority to run the ball this year."
Only two teams in the NFL had fewer
yards rushing last season than the 49ers, who before last season had ranked
among the NFL leaders in rushing yards dating back to 1998.
For now,
anyway, the 49ers training video scandal should serve as a useful distraction
for what will otherwise likely be another horrendous NFL season.
To give
a better idea of just how bad bookmaker WallStreet.com believes San Francisco
will perform this upcoming season. The next worst odds in the NFC are listed at
20-1 for Arizona.
