Illusion Softworks Using Meqon Game Dynamics
Illusion Softworks, award-winning creator of games including the Hidden & Dangerous, Mafia and Vietcong series, will use Meqon Research, for the provision of game dynamics and physics for Illusion's forthcoming 3rd person action game.
(PRWEB) April 26, 2005 -- Game developer Illusion Softworks, award-winning
creator of games including the Hidden & Dangerous, Mafia and Vietcong
series, today signed an agreement with Meqon Research, for the provision of game
dynamics and physics for Illusion's forthcoming 3rd person action game scheduled
for release in 2007.
Illusion Softworks is developing a number of new
titles for the PC and next-generation games consoles. Like many of the company's
previous titles they feature advanced, realistic 3D environments and
sophisticated 'open' gameplay.
With the advent of more powerful consoles,
the ability to create entirely authentic and ever more complex game worlds will
advance. Integrating true dynamic physical effects into each environment will
become a necessary part of producing a consistent, believable and complete
gaming experience.
Illusion chose Meqon's game dynamics system thanks to
it's advanced technology, comprehensive capabilities and ease of implementation.
Meqon's game dynamics system allows a wide range of physical effects to be
accurately modeled and implemented, from vehicle dynamics and character
(ragdoll) physics through to rigid body dynamics and complex interaction between
every object within the environment.
Petr Vochozka, the chief executive
officer of Illusion Softworks, said, “A successful game has to be interactive,
dynamic and capable of responding to what the player actually does. The
consumer's expectations have risen with each new generation of games consoles
and they now rightly expect games which not only look good, but behave as they
would expect and allow them to interact directly with everything within that
environment. The Meqon game dynamics system allows us to meet and exceed these
expectations and incorporate all of the physical effects which really bring a
game to life.”
Jonas Lindqvist, the chief executive officer of Meqon
Research, said, “Illusion have created some incredible games in the past and
their new titles promise to be just as exciting and well received. We are very
pleased to be working with them on their next generation titles and we're
looking forward to seeing the first titles featuring Meqon technology in the
near future.”
