(PRWEB) May 12, 2005 -- RSN, Resort Sports Television, will debut a new
half-hour golf program on May 30, 2005. “The Clubhouse” will feature interviews,
instruction, course profiles, gear and technology trends, and other golf related
programming.
Hosted by Dana Torres, who won Olympic gold medals in
swimming in 1984, 1992 and 2000, “The Clubhouse” will air daily from May 30
until October 30 in mountain and beach resorts around the country on RSN
television. RSN’s network reaches 57 million viewers annually in these markets,
which include Lake Tahoe, Calif.; Vail, Colo.; Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and Park
City, Utah.
Torres is currently a feature reporter for the NFL Network,
USA’s PGA Tour Sunday. She also hosts programs on Oxygen Sports and E!
Television.
“In addition to being an engaging and seasoned television
host, Dana has a passion for golf which is thoroughly contagious,” said Towle
Tompkins, RSN’s director of TV operations and programming.
This is the
first program-length golf show that RSN has produced, and RSN expects it to be
well received by viewers, especially in markets where golfing is the main draw
for tourism.
“Our mission is to provide uncluttered, relevant local
programming to help viewers in our resort markets make the most of their
vacation experience,” said Richard Bilodeau, vice president of marketing for the
television network. “70% percent of our markets are heavily focused on golfing
as recreation, so we felt The Clubhouse will fill an immediate
need.”
“Our research has consistently shown that overall people watch
less TV while on vacation, but that same audience watches RSN with high
frequency, leading to positive recall of advertising and programming by those
people,” stated Bilodeau.
