Kids Blast Off and Find Some Fun
"Spacetrekkers" DVD makes learning about the solar system fun!
Bristol, Connecticut (PRWEB) August 9, 2004 -- The intricate wonders of the
Milky Way and its components are brought down to earth and made simple for
elementary school-aged children thanks to the new DVD,
“Spacetrekkers.”
“Spacetrekkers,” the newest release in the “Way Cool
Science for Curious Kids!” series from the award-winning Thinkeroo, is the
entertaining new video and DVD that teaches children about the planets, moons
and other cosmic bodies that exists within our solar system.
Energetic host
Max Orbit transports young viewers from the Sun to Pluto by engaging them with
facts and data combined with satellite and recorded footage, photos, digital and
computer graphics and interactive games that both amuse and educate.
As
each planet is profiled, specific characteristics are given: origins of the
planet’s name, surface qualities, atmospheric content, length of planetary
rotation and orbit, information about the neighboring moons, theories
astronomers have about unproven data and distinct features unique to each. The
information is presented by Orbit in a way that talks to kids, not at them or
down to them.
The games “Know Your Planet” and “Name That Planet”
reviews what has been learned in a friendly, multiple-choice quiz format.
Terminology is defined with easy-to-understand language and comparisons (like
the size of the Earth compared to that of the Sun) are shown using simple
visuals (a tiny pebble next to a large ball).
The 30-minute program will
be available nationwide August 17, 2004 for a suggested retail price of $14.95
for either the VHS or the DVD. It is recommended for ages 6-10.
Other
titles in the “Way Cool Science for Curious Kids!” library include “Rockfinders:
Learn About Rocks and Minerals;” “Stormchasers: Learn About Weather and
Climate;” and “Biotrackers: Learn All About Habitats.”
