(PRWEB) August 27, 2004 -- Following months of development, Meridix Creative,
Inc. has announced the release of several new features to its popular Meridix
Broadcast Producer (MBP) software and live internet event broadcast network. The
features, classified by the company as the "most significant releases in the
last year," were developed to complement the MBP's existing live broadcast
tools. The MBP Series 2 now includes an archive function to save live
broadcasts, a news publisher and RSS generator, an advertising management tool,
an announcements publisher, and an online account management console.
As
one of the most requested features by members, audio archiving now allows
Meridix LiveID members to keep a full, automatic record of events for on-demand
listening at any time. While events happen, the system will automatically keep a
recording of the broadcast on Meridix's servers and have it available to
listeners within seconds after the broadcast ends.
Another new feature
allows users to publish the latest news, articles, and information to their
account with the News and RSS publisher. Users simply fill in the appropriate
fields such as title, author, and text, and news will be published to the
customized live event center website immediately. In addition, each time a user
publishes a story, an XML RSS feed is automatically updated so that anyone with
a newsreader or news aggregator will have immediate notification. A
press/reporter login (PressID) is available so that employees, team members,
students, teachers, or members of the media can edit and publish stories without
needing access to a main LiveID account.
Announcements and advertising
functionality has also been added to the MBP network. The announcements function
allows organizations to highlight the most important schedule changes, important
events, or other announcements in varying degrees of priority from urgent to
low, and provide additional details, times, and contact information. Advertising
allows LiveID members to upload advertisements that will rotate within live
event screens every 30 seconds. If MBP users do not want audiences to see
banners all of the time, the system uniquely supports on-the-fly enabling and
disabling of advertising. The company hopes more organizations can use
ad-supported broadcasts to cover expenses and even profit from broadcast
operations.
The new MBP Online Manager allows users to remotely
administer every aspect of their MBP experience from any browser in the world,
allowing members to update News Feeds, Schedules, Announcements, Related
LiveIDs, Advertising, Event Details, view an account summary, and if enabled,
view a graph displaying the amount of space you have remaining, the amount of
space used, as well as a breakdown of the estimated amount of hours and minutes
of archive time remaining. The MBP Online Manager also includes links to the
lastest MBP software downloads, your home website, your live event center, and
technical support. Users can link directly to the MBP Online Manager at http://www.meridix.com/mbp/login.
Meridix also
detailed upgrades to its "related events" feature, which allows member
organizations to track and syndicate live and recent events from other LiveIDs
on their own live event center, such as tracking live scores and events from
around a league, conference, or region. The company says the upgrades improved
efficiency and response time for the syndication system.
Though many of
the new features announced can be accessed through the broswer with the MBP
Online Manager, the Meridix Broadcast Producer software remains the flagship of
the MBP System. An advanced live streaming media and data application, the MBP
enables schools, universities, sports teams, music labels, radio stations, and
other organizations to broadcast live streaming audio as well as publish
real-time score and event information with only a computer and internet
connection. The system streams live audio and incorporates professional-level
live streaming data (much like MLB’s GameCast or NFL’s Gamecenter), such as
score, play, down, inning, yard line, time, match time, tennis set, player name,
team names. On the listener (audience) end, the MBP delivers event information
in a customized live viewing experience depending on the event type (basketball,
football, 15 others) without refreshing the screen. For more features,
