SACRAMENTO, CA (PRWEB) June 15, 2004 -– Booktastic! today announced the
official release of its new literary board game by the same name. Booktastic! is
the first board game of its kind and includes over 800 questions about modern
fiction authors and their works. The game was designed for the huge market of
readers, book collectors, their friends and families. Because the game can be
played by individual players or teams, it also appeals to book clubs.
"I
am extremely pleased by the positive response we are receiving on this game,"
said Laine Keneller, president of Booktastic!. "My hope for the game is to get
people reading and talking to each other. Every time I play this game with my
friends, we learn things about each other we never knew. A married couple of 12
years learned new things about each other, and one woman liked the questions so
much, she hid a few in her purse so that she could get reacquainted with her
husband on an upcoming, long-overdue date they had planned."
Booktastic!
Modern Fiction Edition (Ages: 12 and up; Players: 2 or more; Retail: $29.95).
Players move around a quaint town square of bookstores to buy, sell, and trade
books according to a collection card they receive at the beginning of the game.
Before each turn, players earn money by choosing question cards. The questions
are broken down into three levels of difficulty: Casual reader questions have no
wrong answer. Avid reader questions are multiple choice. Collector questions are
open-ended; the most difficult category. The "books" in each store contain
real-life book and author information, along with their associated true values
for first editions, so players can learn how book collecting can really pay off.
"The game has appealed to many people on an educational level as well,"
said Keneller. "I have spoken to librarians, teachers, literary coaches and
parents who are home schooling, and all feel this game is a fun way to help
young adults develop an early appreciation for literature."
