SumoKids Foundation Holds Free SumoKids Graffiti Competition in Buffalo on Thursday, August 18
Children’s free graffiti competition program will take place in Buffalo at Niagara Square, City Hall, in Buffalo, New York.
(PRWEB) August 2, 2005 -- The SumoKids Foundation, which has registered for
not-for-profit status as a 501 (c) (3) corporation, will hold a free SumoKids
Graffiti Competition at Niagara Square, City Hall in Buffalo, New York, on
Thursday, August 18. The event will run from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm and is free to
all registered participants.
The City of Buffalo Youth Bureau helped
organize this event and provided the venue at Niagara Square. The program serves
boys and girls from 6 to 16 years-old. Participants will learn about the
elements of Sumo Wrestling, including self-discipline, fun, fitness, and
education in the afternoon program. They will apply these principles in an
exciting Graffiti Competition.
“We are offering this summer program to
introduce our SumoKids School Program©,” said Charles Bray, president of the
SumoKids Foundation. “The kids who attend our August 16 Sumo Wrestling Clinic as
well as other Buffalo children, may also attend our Graffiti
Competition.”
The SumoKids Graffiti Competition is based on components of
the SumoKids School Program©. These activities involve an educational sports
festival that includes Sumo Wrestling, dancing, and a Graffiti Competition. The
program weaves the traditional arts of Sumo Wrestling with elements of
contemporary youth culture – such as Graffiti – into an exciting youth
adventure.
“The kids who participate in our SumoKids School Program©
especially enjoy the Graffiti Competition activities,” said Henry Chapman III,
master coach of the SumoKids Foundation. “This summer, we will introduce more
children to Sumo, and to Graffiti in a healthy environment, as we prepare to
expand our programs when school starts again in the fall.”
