Kung Fu Classes Very Popular
Kung Fu training is very difficult but very rewarding and very rare in Indianapolis
(PRWEB) October 3, 2004 -- Many people see an old 70's Kung Fu movie or a
more recent one by Jackie Chan or Jet Li and get inspired to check out Martial
Arts schools to see if they can learn to be like the people they see in the
movies. Any Martial Arts instructor these days will tell stories of how they got
excited about the Martial Arts by first seeing a Bruce Lee movie. The most
sought after Martial Art in the world is Kung Fu. Kung Fu is considered the most
beautiful and most challenging of all Martial Arts. The term "Kung Fu" literally
translated means, "The Discipline," or "The Study." To master Kung Fu takes many
many years of hard work. Unlike many Martial Arts Kung Fu cannot be mastered in
a few years time. The name Kung Fu is a very broad term that describes a "type"
of Martial Art. There are literally hundreds of different styles of Kung Fu but
they are most commonly broken down into the following
categories:
Northern and Southern (Northern styles usually have a strong
emphasis on long, deep stances and lots of kicks, while Southern styles have
shorter stances and more hand techniques)
They are also broken into two
other categories:
Internal and External (internal arts are usually ones that
deal more with meditation or "soft" movements, such as the Kung Fu style of "Tai
Chi"- external styles are also known as "hard" styles and include "Long Fist,"
"Tiger Claw," and others.
Level 10 Martial Arts College in Indianapolis
is one such school teaching both internal and external styles of Kung Fu. The
school teaches the Yang Style of Tai Chi Chuan and the Northern Long Fist style
of Kung Fu. There are also 18 different weapons taught within the system.
