Young man from the UK to study martial arts with Zen Buddhists in China
Liam Beale an 18 year old who has just finished his education at Denbigh School in Milton Keynes will be leaving the Uk in the next two weeks to spend a gap year in a Shaolin Kung fu academy in Ye The ancient castle, Siping city, in the Jilin province of China.
(PRWEB) July 19, 2004 -- Liam is an 18 year old from Milton Keynes who has
recently completed his A-level courses in Media studies, English literature and
Sociology and is currently under a conditional offer to study for a degree in
philosophy and journalism at Reading University. Before going to university
however Liam is spending one year in China to learn Kung Fu in a shaolin
academy.
Liam's interest in all kinds of martial arts started from a very
early age. His father was an Aikido instructor where, incidentally he met Liam's
Mother when she was a student in his class. Liam grew up watching training
sessions but was never allowed to join them because of his age, however he was
constantly practicing the moves that he learnt from lessons back at home.
Throughout his lifetime Liam has studied many different martial arts, including
Aikido, Karate, Tae Kwon-Do and Wing Chun kung fu. He is currently studying Wing
Chun under the famous Gary Payne who is regarded for his realistic approach to
martial arts and his understanding of how the human mind absorbs information
when fighting.
Liam practices martial arts ritualistically as a
traditional art form as well as adhering to strict physical training on a daily
basis. His days often begin at 5:30 am when he jogs around the local lake twice
before heading home to stretch his muscles. The main point of Liam's stay in
China is to develop his skills and to have a more focused training routine that
will not include the distractions of everyday modern English life.
Liam
contacted the academy via their website and filled in their online application
form to join. He further established more specific information via e-mails with
Mr Che Wen Long, the academy's chairman. A Shaolin escort will meet Liam upon
arrival at Chang Chun airport and accompany him back to the academy. Liam has
already paid for a weeks stay at the academy as a trial, and if the academy is
as it seems on the site he will pay the entire year's fee in one lump sum,
pricing at around £2500.
The monks at the academy live on the grounds and
train the majority of their waking hours. They are often regarded as some of the
greatest martial artists in the world, performing feats that would seem
super-human to the average man, including breaking rocks with a bare hand or a
handstand using only two fingers. They also follow a Zen Buddhist life of
spiritual fulfilment and meditation.
From his training Liam hopes to
achieve a greater overall skill and to understand what the human body is capable
of. His aim is to become a
professional martial artist with a view to
entering tournaments in the future.
Liam has a diary of his progress on
his website at www.4amadventure.co.uk The site also has information about him
and advice that he has given to others about the martial arts and training in
them.
Liam's diary can be accessed direct from: http://www.4amadventure.co.uk/new_page_2.htm
Liam's
trip is being sponsored by www.ppimk.com - The NLP business provider of choice.
