The Oxford Princeton Programme Develops a New Oil Course with a South African Focus

PRINCETON, NJ (PRWEB) October 4, 2004 -- The Oxford Princeton Programme, the world’s leading provider of training solutions to the energy, commodity and derivatives industries, developed a new course to provide delegates with a fundamental understanding of the trading and operational features within the international oil industry. With a South African focus, Trading and Operations within the International Oil Markets, emphasizes the understanding and successful resolve of practical issues encountered by professionals within the industry.

“Trading and Operations within the International Oil Markets has been uniquely designed for South Africa,” explains Robin Burley, principal consultant and course director. “It offers the opportunity for participants to develop their knowledge and skills in international trading and operations in a stimulating mix of exercises, presentations and plays. It could be regarded as a complete overview into areas of competency required for operations personnel together with adding insight into trading techniques. The course will also appeal to the new entrant offering an immediate perspective on a key functional area in the oil industry.”

Course director Robin Burley is principal consultant with Kennet Oil Logistics, a company established in 1990 providing expertise in the international supply, trading and transportation sector. During his 30 years of experience in the oil industry he has worked with BP within their marine and supply departments and Gulf Oil including trading and transportation, refining and marketing functions. Besides the day-to-day management and negotiation of oil supply, trading and transportation deals, he has been involved in a variety of oil logistics projects throughout the world. He has lived in the USA, Europe and the Middle East, and is a contributing author to the Oil Trading Manual (pub. Woodhead 1995).

“South Africa is a key piece of the international oil industry and with oil prices in constant flux, this course will shed new light on this important segment,” said Clara Lippert, president and CEO of The Oxford Princeton Programme.

Trading and Operations within the International Oil Markets is a four-day course. The course is scheduled for March 14-17, 2005, in Cape Town, South Africa.
