Harvard's Entrepreneurs Reveal 5 Habits For Success in New Book by Poonam Sharma
The author of The Harvard Entrepreneurs' Club Guide To Starting Your Own Business (John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 1999), Poonam Sharma announces the publication of her second book: CHASING SUCCESS -- Lessons We Can Learn From The Lives Of Harvard's Entrepreneurs (October 2004, American Book Business Press, ISBN: 158982251X, $19.95) (www.poonam.info)
(PRWEB) September 30, 2004 -- Countless people awaken each day wondering not
only “What should I do with my life?” but also “What will make me happy?” As
pragmatism trumps idealism in our accomplishment-driven society, many people
never take the time to truly ask themselves: “How do I define Success?” Events
of the recent past have made plain the need for a purpose-driven life. People
ache to engineer their own lives but are terrified to lose what little safety
they hold so dear. Now more than ever, the general public is looking for
inspiration; they want to learn the secrets of those who have managed to make a
change and to make their dreams come true -- on their own terms.
"Half
the battle in life is learning to ask the right questions," Sharma writes,
"Here, I have endeavored to do that for you."
CHASING SUCCESS (available
at a discount through www.pdbookstore.com) is the result of the author's two-year
investigation into the lives of thirteen well-known (but seldom profiled)
Harvard alumni who have lived extraordinary and entrepreneurial lives -- who
have engineered their own success. With their own words and through the insights
of their spouses, partners, parents, colleagues, investors, siblings, mentors
and friends, Sharma has chronicled their lives. Narratives are interspersed with
direct quotes from her extensive and very personal contacts with these powerful
people. Besides these rich and compelling stories of self-actualization and
perseverance, the fruits of Sharma's exploration is what she refers to as The
Five Habits Of Highly Successful Entrepreneurs, as well as her concept of the
Productive Versus Destructive Psychological Safety Net. Both are discussed in
the text. Ms. Sharma is available for interviews, and review copies are
available upon request.
“Poonam has done a wonderful job of teasing out
the delicate essence of entrepreneurship, the intensely personal stories of
passion, success and failure that transform industries and institutions.”

About The Author:
Poonam Sharma (www.poonam.info) is pursuing her
own personal version of success, one that has as much to do with the kind of
tone she wants to set for her life as it does with what kind of title she wants
to print on her business card. After graduating from the Phillips Exeter Academy
in Exeter, New Hampshire, and earning her bachelor’s degree with distinction
from Harvard College, she worked at a start-up, a nonprofit venture catalyst, a
private equity firm, and in investment research and institutional sales. Her
first book, The Harvard Entrepreneurs Club Guide to Starting Your Own Business,
was published by John Wiley & Sons Inc. while she was director of the
Harvard Entrepreneurs Club. She now lives in Los Angeles and New York, and when
she’s not soaking up the sun or meditating on the miracle of the human spirit,
she is consulting to the financial industry and writing novels, business books,
and oral histories full time. Chasing Success is her second
book.
