Metafy Releases Anthracite Web Mining Desktop Toolkit Version 1.1

AppleScript your Google searches, cool new UI trick, and up to 90% performance improvement in some processes

Boulder, CO (PRWEB) April 1, 2005 -- Metafy LLC today announced the immediate availability of version 1.1 of their flagship application Anthracite Web Mining Desktop Toolkit.

"We're grateful to all of our users who have supported us during the early phase of Anthracite's development, and we hope that with 1.1, our tenth release (!), that we're meeting more of their web mining needs than ever." extolled Joe Pezzillo, Founder of Metafy and the lead developer of Anthracite.

Anthracite 1.1 features several major new features and general improvements and bug fixes.

New in 1.1: Google API Overhaul, including AppleScript support
Now you can use AppleScript with Anthracite to automate Google queries and processing of the matching pages in a few simple steps. Anthracite's Google API engine has been completely overhauled to use the more contemporary CoreServices SOAP methods, resulting in major improvements to the stability and speed. Sample documents are included with the distribution release, including sample AppleScripts and a "Top Keywords for Search Term" example.

New in 1.1: Drag and Drop Object Connections
A substantial improvement in the development of processes, now you can simply drag a new object onto an existing connection line to insert the object into the process chain. Makes both construction and modification of processes much easier.

Other improvements include a bug fix to certain online/offline connection situations, performance enhancements to the text between and strip processors and new documentation and included sample files.

"With the new Google API functionality, anyone who is doing regular keyword or search performance tracking or other Search Engine Optimization (SEO) type work should really benefit from being able to query Google, load all the results, and parse out whatever they want to examine, for example, a word or link count, the keywords, a summary of the site, run some Perl script on the pages, whatever, it's really the sky's the limit now for search mavens and web power users," Pezzillo concluded.

Anthracite is available to download for a free two week trial for any MacOS X user (10.2.8 or newer), and can be purchased online for only $99. Users are required to apply for a separate, free license key from Google to make use of their API functionality. Complete information is available on the Metafy website.
