Handmade String Doll Gang™ Characters Beat Mass Produced Products to the Punch
Standing 2-3 inches tall and handmade using just one continuous piece of string, the 16 members of The String Doll Gang™ are one cute force to be reckoned with. And unlike mass produced items, no two are exactly alike.
Asheville, NC (PRWEB) July 7, 2005 -- Standing 2 to 3 inches tall and
handmade using just one continuous piece of string, the 16 members of The String
Doll Gang™ are one cute force to be reckoned with. And unlike mass produced
items, no two are exactly alike.
Each character comes with his or her own
name, accessories, and attitude. For example, Monster Man, despite the screws in
his head, wears a big heart on his chest. Captain Bad the pirate is another
favorite with his peg leg, hoop earring, eye patch, and hook. (www.kamibashi.com)
How
you use your string doll is entirely up to you. Suitable as a keychain, bag
charm, fashion accessory or holiday ornament, the String Doll Gang™ members are
as versatile as they are unique.
“They’re irresistible pick-up items
because they make the customers smile,” said Sophie Truong, Product Development
Manager and Buyer for the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. “They each have a
personality of their own,” she remarked, adding, “They make you think of some of
Yoshitomo Nara’s characters - cute and evil at the same time.”
Launched
by Kamibashi Asian Art and Textiles at the National Stationery Show in New York
this May, the String Doll Gang™ garnered a lot of attention in their first
public appearance. “Buyers of all ages and from all different kinds of stores
loved them,” said Kamibashi founder Kristen Daniels.
Daniels discovered
the characters while on a buying trip in Thailand earlier this year and
immediately secured an exclusive contract with the trio who invented them when
they were university students. “Every doll is skillfully made. There’s no frame
or anything underneath – just string,” she said. “Each one is a little piece of
art.”
To meet the whole gang visit www.kamibashi.com, or Booth 2326 at the California Gift Show
in Los Angeles July 22-25. For more information contact Kristen Daniels at
