Beginner to experienced whitewater rafters can sign up for guided rafting
adventures on the Dead and Kennebec Rivers in The Forks, or the Penobscot River
in Millinocket, Maine. Each river offers rafters a unique experience, with Class
II (easiest) to Class V (most difficult) whitewater rapids.
The Dead
River has seven highwater release dates scheduled for 2005, with the rapids
reaching up to 7,000 cubic feet per second, the waves and excitement are at
their highest for the season – 10 to 25 feet! The Kennebec River has four
Turbine Tests scheduled in June, July and September cranking out 8,000 cubic
feet per second. With limited seats available for these high whitewater days,
rafting slots book up early.
Early spring and fall season trips are the
best value, with one-day trips starting at just $59 for adults, and $49 for
children ages 8-15, making whitewater rafting an adventure the entire family can
enjoy. Peak times during July and August, as well as highwater release dates are
priced from $70 to $108 per day. Special pricing for two or three day trips
