Pocket Repeater 1.0 for Windows Mobile, Pocket PC and Palm devices
PDAOnboard has released Pocket Repeater 1.0 for Windows Mobile, Pocket PC and Palm devices; software that turns your Palm or Pocket PC hand-held computer into a wireless, mobile, multi-instrument repeater, giving you access to your boat’s data whenever and wherever you need it.
(PRWEB) May 18, 2005 -- Pocket Repeater displays position, speed, depth,
trip, wind, heading and navigational information on your PDA, as well as
providing depth and anchor alarms and a Man Over Board (MOB) safety function
which stores the MOB position and helps you return to the casualty.
Being
able to view key performance and navigational data anywhere on board provides
increased comfort and safety. Skippers can keep a check on progress from their
bunk, the foredeck, while sat in the companion-way, or even while in the heads!
Existing instruments, such as GPS, Heading, Speed, Depth and Wind are wired into
a Bluetooth enabled Miniplex device which then transmits the instrument data to
your PDA. Any marine instrument providing a NMEA output is
compatible.
The cost of Pocket Repeater, including the Miniplex, is less
than that of a dedicated instrument repeater, and also provides wireless
functionality to generic marine products normally only available with expensive
proprietary instrumentation. Furthermore, no holes need to be drilled, and no
expensive instrument heads are required. The Miniplex also provides an RS232
interface for linking instruments to a personal computer, and represents the
easiest, most reliable method of interfacing multiple instruments
safely.
