Discover How You Can Race Yachts All Over the World and Raise Money for Charity
Global Yacht Racing teams up with Sail 4 Cancer to enable ordinary people to experience the challenge of world wide yacht racing.
(PRWEB) March 21, 2005 -- Global Yacht Racing is offering ordinary people who
want to experience the challenge of yacht racing the chance to finance some or
all of the cost of their crew fee by raising funds and sponsorship money for
Sail 4 Cancer. The scheme enables individuals and corporate race teams to
subsidize the cost of entering race events with Global Yacht Racing and raises
valuable funds for a worthwhile charity.
Sail 4 Cancer aim is to use
sailing as medium to raise funds for cancer treatment, research, care and
rehabilitation and also provide sailing opportunities for cancer sufferers and
their families. It was founded people who have all lost a close relative or
friend to cancer in recent years and the courage displayed by those people who
have been lost provided the inspiration to help others in similar situations.
Global Yacht Racing is a Southampton based company that provides people
with a passion for adventure the opportunity to experience the ultimate
challenge – ocean yacht racing. Some of the races offered are the Rolex Sydney
to Hobart, The rolex Fastnet race, The Rolex Middle Sea Race, Skandia Cowes
Week, the ARC and Ford Cork Week.
The wide ocean is a beautiful and
dramatic place, ever changing and fascinating. Racing across the ocean pitting
your wits and testing your endurance against the power of the wind and waves is
a sport which can be by turns deeply inspiring and exhilarating and yet
desperately challenging and difficult. For those who yearn for more than their
two weeks a year in Ibiza, Global Yacht Racing can provide the experience of a
lifetime either on offshore races or famous inshore regattas.
Team
Global is Global Yacht racing’s ambitious worldwide racing program which enables
people to become part of an outstanding yacht racing team. There are twelve
places available on either of the Team Global campaigns, the one year campaign,
or the two year campaign. The team will train and race together on various boats
in the greatest yacht races and regattas around the world.
Becoming part
of the crew on Team Global opens up a whole world of racing to those with
enthusiasm and a sense of adventure. Following the same philosophy as Robin Knox
Johnson’s Clipper Ventures and Chay Blythe’s Challenge events, no previous
sailing experience is required; all you need is ambition, determination, guts
and good health.
A place on Team Global costs around £23,000 which can
be a life changing amount of money. By teaming up with Sail 4 Cancer the
prospect of raising funds need not seem so daunting to those wanting to take on
the world of yacht racing and wondering how to fund their passion.
With
some hard work and determination, significant sponsorship funds can be raised
which means that yacht racing has never been more affordable and available to
anyone with a desire to experience the exhilaration of ocean racing or the
thrill of fast and furious regattas. Sailing is fast losing is reputation as an
elitist sport and with opportunities like these it is opening up to more and
more people.
