(PRWEB) June 2, 2005 -- According to SwimwearExpress.com a leading online
retailer of swimwear, this season’s hottest swimwear designs are coming out of
South America. Leading the way are swimsuits from Salinas, Vix, Rygy and
Rebequinha from Brazil as well as Onda De Mar from Columbia. The South American
brands tend to be more fashionable, creative, unique and fit a bit skimpier. If
you are thinking that the look is very Latin, then you will be quite surprised.
The great thing about the South American designs is that they have international
appeal. Another up and coming brand is Island Company, manufactured in Brazil
but headquartered in the U.S.; it reflects a more American preppy look.
Scott Sill, President of South Beach based SwimwearExpress explains. "It
used to be that the major brands in swimwear all came out of California; today
California has a lot of competition. For us as an online retailer this year it
is the South American brands that significantly outsell the
Americans.”
Sill has an interesting story. He is a photographer turned
entrepreneur “I was a photographer in Los Angeles shooting Fashion, Swimwear,
and Celebrities. When I started shooting swimwear and walked into my first trade
show, I was shocked by the lack of first class photography exhibited by the
swimwear companies. I eventually shot for a number of swimwear companies
including Bisou-Bisou, Body Glove and Club Del Sol. After toying with the idea
of starting my own swimwear line I decided I would find the best swimwear in the
world and make it available to anyone. I knew the players in the business and
the internet was really the place to be, so I started SwimwearExpress.com three
years ago.”
Already with the connections and expertise in the swimwear
industry, Sill started the business. Choosing the best swimwear designs,
creating a first class photo shoot and hiring a web designer, Sill put it all
together. “It took two months to get everything going and probably around two
weeks before we got our first sale,” Sill explains, “The first year was good but
in the second year business jumped significantly. We sell all over the world
from customers in Texas and New York to England and Japan. I remember our first
sale to Alaska and saying to a friend “if we can sell swimwear to people in
Alaska we can sell swimwear anywhere."
Many stores play it safe and do
not offer a great variety of unique styles. Swimwear seekers now need look no
further than their computer and mailbox to get the latest designs from Rio and
beyond. Every bikini wearing woman knows it is extremely difficult to find good
swimwear during the off-season and now this unique online company makes it
available for your next vacation. Even in summer one may be hard pressed to find
stores that carry the type of selection that can be found online at
SwimwearExpress.com .
As a result of having a great selection,
SwiwmearExpress.com swimsuits have been seen and received editorial credit in
magazines including the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition, Lucky Magazine,
Glamour and Teen Vogue. “We get calls everyday from magazines, movies and
calendars,” said, Sill ”Last year one of the contestants from Survivor purchased
a suit from us and wore it on the show.”
