Customer Rating: Summary: Worth it for a WHO fan Comment: If you are a WHO fan then this video is worth it. It tells a lot about the origins of "TOMMY". I am not a big fan of the Broadway "TOMMY" (which they spend a little bit too much time talking about) but it does show some rare clips of THE WHO. You get clips from Tanglewood (7/7/1970) that is not shown on "30 YEARS OF MAXIMUM R & B", clips from the London Coliseum(Dec. 1969)that is not show on "30 YEARS" or "KIDS ARE ALRIGHT", clips from New York Metropolitan Opera House (may 1969) plus a lot of great interviews with Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, & John Entwistle. You can find it here on Amazon really cheap, so pick up a copy.
Customer Rating: Summary: "ever since i was a young boy" the who's tommy was great Comment: best show to hit the stage!
Customer Rating: Summary: That's the most boring Who video I know of Comment: Very disapointing. It's like a paid commercial to sell the Broadway version of Tommy. Nothing new to see here. Contains a few short (10 seconds at most) excerpts of live Who concerts. Don't waste your money and your time on this one.
Customer Rating: Summary: Provides insight into the world of "Tommy" and The Who Comment: This video is a compliment to the wonderful compilation of music created by The Who. A must experience for any avid fan of The Who. It is somewhat reminiscent of the film " The Kids Are Alright" and shares some of the same footage. I am fortunate to have a copy on laser disc to be preserved well into the next century. Catch it if you can!!
Customer Rating: Summary: If you really love 'Tommy' this video will have you in tears Comment: The Who's 'Tommy' is one of the most emotionally charged pieces to come out of the 60's, and the broadway show captures that emotion even better than the original album. I would do anything to come across a video of the entire Broadway show (anyone have one?), but this documentary, along with the cast recording, has made me safely able to say that 'Tommy', in my opinion, is the best show out there. This video is a must-have for fans of the Who, the 'Tommy' album, or the broadway musical. Through entertaining interviews with the creators, contributers, and stars of various incarnations of 'Tommy', along with loads of clips from the Who's early days all the way up to the broadway show, 'The Who's Tommy: the Amazing Journey' perfectly describes the emotional impact of the music, while giving a great in-depth look at the Who, the story, and what it took to get this amazing piece to the stage.
