Customer Rating: Summary: It's O.K. Comment: It's a bit noisy but it's constant and not grating. I had a sonic humidifier last year that put a lot more moisture in the air than this though.
- This is the key for me, how much humidity it can actually produce and this one doesn't produce enough. It produces some and might be good enough for a single small room.
- I do like that this one is flat on top which lets me sit it on the counter to fill it using the filtered water pitcher. I think it would be harder to use filling it with the sink faucet though.
- The info on amazon says it's dishwasher safe but the manual it came with says not to run it through the dishwasher. This was another reason I bought this one and I haven't tried running it through yet and at the very least if it breaks as a result you're probably not going to get help from the manufacturer because the manual says not to run it through the dishwasher.
I'm keeping this one but I'll also be buying the other type of humidifier again (it's a bit more expensive and it also got a LOT of horrible reviews which made me think I had just lucked out with my last one.) Oh and the reason I got rid of my previous humidifier was that after two years there was too much hard water residue I couldn't get rid of. I'll probably try harder to keep the next good one clean though.
Customer Rating: Summary: Noisy Comment: If you are using this in a bedroom, you might want to buy earplugs as well. On the high setting, this is as noisy as a medium sized fan on high.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Quite Decent Humidifier Comment: After reading many, many, negative reviews of various and sundry humidifiers, I thought that this one seemed like the best deal. I have had it for about a month now and haven't experienced a single problem with it. The high setting is, as other reviewers have noted, noisy. Nevertheless, the low setting emits a low hum that is actually quieter than a fan. It has not leaked even once, although I could see how if the tank were not situated quite right on the base, it could conceivably leak. Filling the humidifier and then moving it would probably cause leaking as well, as the sides of the water tray aren't very high. The vapor, as noted in the packaging, is invisible, but I can tell that its producing humidity, as the room (10x12, approximately) does get progressively more humid and I can hear occasional "glug"-type noises from the humidifier when it has to gulp more water. Based on my current usage (mostly just running it at night), I imagine that the replaceable filter will last me about two months or so. Filters seem to be a bit difficult to find, but they are available through Amazon and are quite reasonably priced. Overall, I'm quite pleased with this humidifier for the price.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good, not great Comment: We have had this humidifier for almost a year now. The mist is not as powerful as I first thought it would be. For some reason our humidifier sometimes does not "utilize" the water in the tank. We fill up only 1/5 of the capacity and it's on for about 8 hours during the night, and sometimes there is still water left in the tank. It's a pain since you should not let water sit there, otherwise it gets stinky and dirty.
This is the other downside. The filter does get very dirty pretty easily, and stinky. We use only at night, every day, and the filter gets "nasty" with 1 month of use. We do use tap water.
We can notice difference in the room when it's on. We turn it on for about 30 min before going to bed, leave the bedroom door closed and you can definitely tell the room is not as dry.
Customer Rating: Summary: this humidifier is terrible! Comment: It doesnt let out any mist, and the water level stays the same. This humidifier is a waste of money. I will never buy another Vick's product again.
