Customer Rating: Summary: Interesting medicine Comment: I had the flu for a few days and was getting better but had a persistent cough, so I bought this because I thought it would help stop my coughing and help me get some sleep. It worked wonders on the cough, almost immediately and long into the next day. Unfortunately, I was up all night long with a jittery, spaced out, wacked out feeling that was way worse than the cough I'd had before. I was nauseous, disoriented, the room was spinning, etc. Let's just say this is extremely strong medicine, and since the capsules are time release, you can't break them in half or anything. So I spent a lot of money on medicine that, yes, stopped the cough, but pretty much made me miserable for 18 or so hours. I'm 5' 2" about 110 lbs. so maybe this would work better for someone larger, it was definitely too much for me!
Customer Rating: Summary: Musinex DM Does Work Comment: I recently came down with a cold during New Years--first cold in almost ten years--and I've been seeing this commercial for Musinex with the gross little animated mucus glob and didn't think much of it until I got this cold. I've tried other medicines in the past and to tell you the truth I'm not a big medicine person. I don't like taking them, but wanted to get over this cold quickly as possible so I decided to try Musinex. Not before reading some reviews of others who have tried this product.
I took one with a full glass of water. Now it says its non drowsy. Well it made me drowsy which is probably my reaction to it. Not that it is intended to make you drowsy, thats how I reacted to it. Some say it makes them anxious or feeling weird. But it does work. I've taken three so far this past weekend every twelve hours and then I'm going to cut down to nighttime. I recomend this product. It does live up to its commerical but be prepared for certain side effects on how your body reacts to it.
It does suppress caughs. My nose gets a little dry but other than that its a decent product.
Some of the negative reviews which were a little far fetched and I surmise are from very bored people or competitive drug companies.
Customer Rating: Summary: A MUST-have for Asthmatics Comment: Mucinex is a must-have for asthmatics whom are attacked by mucus. Why? Mucinex dissolves mucus, which prevents air flow.
As an uninsured asthmatic in the USA, this time-released product, coupled with antihistamines, makes side-effected inhaler use extremely RARE [especially when a bad cold is present].
Customer Rating: Summary: Loosens the phlegm in your lungs very quickly Comment: I'm not a doctor and I don't have a medical condition where I need to use this product regularly. But if I get a cold and chest congestion this is the product I use.
I swear by this product and recommend it to everyone who suffers from heavy phlegm when they get sick. You really need to drink water when you take this. I made the mistake of going light on the water one time and had a hard time coughing up the phlegm.
More than anything else this product allows me to sleep a full night without having to get up for a second dosage.
Customer Rating: Summary: 12 hour relief gets you through the night Comment: I'm recovering from a bout of pneumonia that put me in the hospital for a week. The hospital bed allowed me to sleep sitting up. Once I got home I couldn't sleep in my bed because I couldn't lie flat without coughing and getting short of breath. After a night sleeping propped up on the couch, I started taking this and can now sleep in the bed. Since it is extended release, you don't have to get up after 4 hours to take another dose. This formula both thins mucous (so you don't get that choking feeling) and reduces cough. I'm very glad I had this in the medicine cabinet "just in case." I didn't give it five stars because I think the price is unnecessarily high.
