Customer Rating: Summary: panasonic HDmi module Comment: All I can say is our plasma tv came without it and we needed it in order to hook up a fuzebox and its working fine , so far. its too early to really give much input on its performance or reliability other than its been working for 3 weeks now.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works Great Comment: I have a 7 series Panny and this product works just fine. I am watching a fantastic HD picture of the Angels on it right now.
Customer Rating: Summary: Panasononic HDmi Plugin worked for my Series 7 Plasma Comment: Faced with upconverting my 51 inch Panasonic Series 7 television to HDMI, I purchased this Series 8, 9 HDmi Input Module. I checked the Panasonic website and called them but got no verification that it would work for Series 7 and could find no available alternative. Perhaps Panasonic prefers to sell TV's.
With the TV still upright (might be easier another way), I removed the four screws for the plate covering my previously unused slot 1, grounded myself, and slid the blade upward and in, having taken care that it was in the right orientation. I replaced the screws in the correct order, slapped on the HDMI ID sticker for the new input and reconnected my Sony PS3 (which plays Blu-Ray DVDs and games)with a $12-14 HDMI cable I also ordered from Amazon. Total time spent: 15 min - half of which was to find the right phillips screwdriver and enjoy the rather minimal instructions which had been translated into many languages I don't speak.
It worked immediately, the TV recognizing the new source and asking me if I wanted 1080p (of course). The results were fantastic for Blu-Ray. My wife thought I was some sort of electronic wizard. For conventional disks I see improvement, but my wife doesn't. I think her strategy is for us to replace our DVD collection with Blu-Ray, and she'll probably succeed in her strategy because the Blu-Ray is amazing.
Customer Rating: Summary: Exceeded my expectations Comment: I was skeptical, but this card actually made a noticeable difference in the image quality from my HTPC. I kept going back and forth between this card and the DVI one and am happy with the decision I made. I would have preferred to use 1366x768 (assuming the DVI card would support it) to be closer to the native resolution, but 1280x720 looks just fine and with this resolution I can cut down on the number of cables running up the wall by using the HDMI switching in my receiver.
As others have said, install was super easy. I have a 720P 42" 9 series that is wall mounted. I didn't even have to take it off the wall to install this card.
Here are the steps I took to get everything working properly.
1. Moved the component video card to slot 3.
2. Installed this HDMI card in slot 2 (it has to be in slot 1 or 2 according to the included instructions).
3. Hooked up the cables (HDMI from HTPC and DVD to receiver, then HDMI from receiver to plasma).
4. Switched primary monitor in HTPC from VGA to HDMI(resolution automatically detected 1280x720).
5. Setup Receiver to output all signals at 720p.
6. Adjusted the pos/size on the monitor.
7. Removed all my (now redundant) optical, component and VGA cables after confirming everything was properly working through HDMI.
Piece of cake.
The nicest thing about this card was being able to replace many cables with only a few. Inexpensive (under $10) Monoprice cables (3' and 6') worked great for me.
As you should realize from other reviews and information online, make sure your plasma supports this card and that you install it in slot 1 or 2 as stated in the included instructions.
I am completely satisfied with my purchase and because the picture quality was improved and exceeded my expectations, I gave this card 4 stars. I realize that most people take away stars for faults, but that isn't the case here. I suppose for $60, I would have given it 5 stars...
Customer Rating: Summary: Necessary accessory for this TV Comment: Um, if you've bought a Panasonic industrial plasma set for home theater viewing, you'd be dumb NOT to get this HDMI input adapter card. With Panasonic's shortage of HD inputs, this is the only option for true HD signal processing that's completely digital-digital. If you are buying one of the TH-series plasma, buy this too!
