Summary: Customer support not as promised
Comment: We purchased Bitdefender because they promised 24/7 support. Don't believe it. We installed the product on our 3 computers and each had problems. On our VISTA machine, our browser continues to crash, other programs crash as well. On our daughter's computer (which she has at her university), she could not connect to the university wireless network from the point that Bitdefender was installed. Despite having computer literate people to help her, she was not able to get it to work; so she uninstalled the product at which point she could get connected again. She also advised us to get a different program. I have spent hours trying to call the help number. I have NEVER gotten through. Each time I reach a place where I listen to music, have periodic instructions on using the knowledge base and chat services, and then get dropped. Each of these calls lasted between 10 and 40 minutes. I tried both the chat services, which are also not available, and the knowledge base from which I could not get the answers to simple questions. If you are not a computer engineer, DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT. In any case, don't expect support.

Summary: Simple to use - No surprises
Comment: I bought this after reading the review of these products in Consumer Reports Magazine. Installation was easy and it runs well. There are no annoying reminders in my opinion. I have used two other products and was bothered by the annoying reminders all the time. It's nice that there is a basic version and advanced version of the monitoring screen. I am running this on a Vista machine and I have had no issues. As a bonus I won't have to renew for 2 years.

Summary: Bitdefender poor choice
Comment: Purchased Bitdefender Internet Security 2009 in October 2008. I have had nothing but problems from the beginning. I have tried using their email support(multiple times)with no response. I have used their "chat" support with convoluted fixes and requests for further information that again went unanswered, just prolonging the problem. I (at their request) ran their own program repair and ended up with worse problems than when I started. I purchased this program because of the rating in Consumer Reports Magazine and have found it to fail miserably. I will go back to either Kaspersky or Norton for a program that actually works!

Summary: Product slowed my web browsing down - 2.5 stars
Comment: BitDefender Internet Security 2009 slowed my web browsing down unless I had the AV scanning on the lowest setting - and I didn't want to set it there. Turning off the Web AV only didn't help. The product has decent detection as shown by AV-Comparatives.org, and has a good record at Virus Bulletin when false positives aren't taken into account. The firewall is basic and newbie friendly, but I think the underdeveloped IDS (really a HIPS) is a waste. Performance other than web browsing was fine: didn't slow program loads or startup very much. Overall, an ok suite, but I recommend AntiVir.

Summary: Not exactly what I expected
Comment: I have had alot of problems with my laptops and PC's getting trojans, spyware, trackers and viruses...so I thought this would do the trick. it promises to clean your comptuer of all the junk thats on there without slowing it down. Well it took forever to download and I have a very fast high speed cable internet connection...and once it was downloaded, not only is it not user friendly, it made my computer SLOW AS MOLASSES! I ran a scan on my laptop, it found 1 thing, thats it...I think McAfee might be better than this junk and I hate McAfee! so I removed it from my PC and I will not use it again and I do not recommend it to anyone. It will destroy your pc.
