Summary: Great early shows
Comment: Two great performances of my favorite singer, before she was mass-marketed & heavily produced! Loved this dvd.

Summary: Excellence early on
Comment: I've really been enjoying these early Tori performances! This dvd really shows how raw and passionate her early and somewhat obscure performances were. The songs, especially Precious Things and her cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit, showcase the future possibilities of Tori's blossoming compositions and singing talents, along with her very unique performance styles.

Summary: Absolutely one of her best. Definite Buy recommendation.
Comment: I was absolutely blown away by this DVD. The first performance full of innocence and pure raw talent. The second a year later at the same venue after a year on the road and that experience and edge the road brings with it,she had obviously changed some and hardened up a bit. Having toured extensively in the music business in the 80's myself, I see first hand the "road" difference between both shows. Both are excellent in their own ways. If you are a TA fan at all, you must have this one in your collection !

Comment: Live at Montreux is a live concert from singer/songwriter and genius Tori Amos. This concert was taped from two separate shows early in Tori's career. You can see how more comfortable she is as a live performer in the 1992 show, she is a riveting artist when she is in her element, live Tori is the best! Winter, Silent All These Years, Smells Like Teen Spirit, and Thank You are performed with sincerity and beauty. I highly recommend this flawless purchase, enjoy!

Editorial Reviews:

These two concerts from Montreux in 1991 and 1992 catch Tori Amos right at the start of her solo career. The first, from July 1991, was filmed a few months before the release of her "Little Earthquakes" album and the second from July 1992 followed a few months after. There is a fascinating progression from one year to the next as she grows in confidence and skill as a live performer, buoyed by the critical and commercial success of the album. Naturally most of the songs are taken from "Little Earthquakes" but there are also rare songs from her various EPs released across the two years which didn't make it onto the album including her distinctive takes on Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" and "Thank You" and Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit".
